Straight up, before you read: I’m a coach sharing what worked for me and the people I walk with — I’m not a licensed dietitian or personal trainer — my credential is the results I’ve built on myself and the people I walk with. This is general education and what’s worked for me, not medical, nutritional, or professional advice. Check with your doctor before changing how you train or eat, especially with any injury or condition. Results vary — what you get out depends on the dedication and commitment you put in. No outcome is guaranteed. If you’re in real crisis, please reach out to a licensed professional — and I’ll gladly help you find one.
If you’re waiting to feel motivated, you’ll wait forever. The people who change their lives aren’t more motivated than you — they built a system that doesn’t need motivation to run.
1. Decide once, not daily
Every choice you re-make each morning drains you. Decide once: these are my training days, this is my protein target. Then stop negotiating with yourself.
2. Make it obvious and easy
Lay the clothes out. Prep the food. Put the phone in another room. Willpower is weak — your environment is strong. Build a world that makes the right thing the easy thing.
3. If-then plans
Name your #1 trigger and write the response before it hits. “If I want to skip the gym, then I’ll go for ten minutes and let myself leave.” You almost never leave.
4. Never miss twice
You’ll miss a day — everyone does. The win isn’t perfection, it’s never letting one miss become two. Don’t double up, don’t quit. Check the next box.
Discipline is a muscle. Train it on small things and it’ll be there for the big ones.
